tachinafly

This Tachina Fly (Archytas apicifer) is a nectar-drinking fly that is an important pollinator. He also helps out by parasitizing tent caterpillars (the fly eggs are laid on the caterpillar and the larvae eat the caterpillar). Here the fly is drinking nectar from a wingstem flower.
